For as long as I can remember, I've wanted to be a cartoonist. Instead, I became an accountant. Not really sure how or why I made that career choice, but here we are.
I pursued cartoons and comic strips in various forms for a couple of years, mostly newspaper type stuff, but I was making myself miserable. I was unhappy making comics because I was not doing it professionally, and I was unhappy professionally because I was not making comics. In the summer of 2010 I completely gave up, and instantly felt happier.
I took all of my notebooks, sketch pads and ideas and threw them in the trash. I decided I was just going to make comics and art because I like doing it. No more characters, or contrived premises, or grand schemes of fortune and fame - just simple drawings of things I want to say. The result was Calm Blue Oceans.
